New Laptop Drive - Can I buy portable hard disc?

The hard disc on my laptop has failed.
The cheapest new one is around £35.

However, I can buy a a better portable hard drive (click here)for less money, which I think contains a 2.5" drive.

The qeustion is, as the portable drive is more economical, can I buy the poatrable drive, take it apart and install the hard dsic in my Laptop (Dell D600), ?

As a by-product, I'd have a spare enclosure that came with the portable drive that I could use in the future.

The spec seems O.K
But 'cheaper' should ring 'warning bells'.

Go for it
If it does not work out and you have to get the other drive, you will have an external drive to play with.

You may be able to boot from a USB drive, but you will have to check you BIOS. Certainly, I very much doubt you'll be able to install it as an internal drive and you'd certianly invalidate any warranty if you take it apart. Frankly, if you can get a replacement for £35, I'd go for it.
