keep getting message that it has found new hardware and it is going to install a driver for the printer,but my printer is

Have you moved the USB connection to a different port? This would provoke that message. If you have, then simply accept the 'new' install.

Or, try downloading and installing the latest drivers for your printer from the makers website.

Try going to device manager ( right click my computer, properties, hardware and device manager) then click on view tab and select 'show hidden devices'. See if you get any yellow triangle warnings. If so then right click and click on disable. Reboot and see if you get the message again. If not and the PC runs ok you can decide to uninstall the device or not.
