Packard Bell WINXP SP2

The harddrive in the Packard Bell is on its last legs.

I would fit a second harddrive and use Acronis to clone the complete harddrive, but there is not enough room or a place to secure the second drive.

The Pc does not include a XP disc, the OS is partitioned. To access it ,to restore the OS I use a boot floppy.

There is an option to create master CD's.

Question, how would I copy from one harddrive to another please?.

Thank you for your help.

you can get an external enclosure to put the new hard drive in, then take it out and put it in the pc when transfer is done.

............. I would rather not involve CDs Or DVDs

An external case, ready for you to insert a new HD and "Restore" the contents from the ailing HD should go well.

In this case save the Acronis backup to the present C: drive and then Restore to the new one.

When you have done that, you can put the restored new HD in the PC instead of the old one.

If you really think your old HD is going down, don't mess about, get rid of it.

You will need eventually another HD for the external case, but don't challenge its usefulness by using an HD you dont trust.
