New Hard Drive Not Detected

Hi. I have recently purchased two hard drives.

  1. Seagate ST1000DX001 3.5 inch 1TB Hybrid Internal Solid State Drive
  2. HITACHI 0J22423 Travelstar 7K1000 1TB 2.5 inch Hard Drive - SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm 32MB Buffer

My intention was to put a fresh install of windows 7 onto the Seagate Hdd. But windows dose not detect it. The Hitachi hdd is working perfectly. I had a look at my BIOS, and it is not detected there either. I’ve tried changing the Sata config settings with no luck. I tried plugging the Seagate hdd in on its own, in case of some weird voltage issue, with still no luck. I’ve used different sockets on the motherboard, and of course made sure the connections are ok. I have also tried using different cables, but still the Seagate hdd is not recognised.

My motherboard is a Asus P8H61-MLE/USB3

Am I missing something of do you think I have just got a faulty hard drive?

You could download and use the Seagate DiscWizard to format the drive CLICK HERE

What Operating System also does it need drivers for the Hard Drive to be seen by BIOS and Windows. They are big Drives and may need drivers or BIOS may need a Update to see them
