Are the DVDs you have tried pre-recorded or something you have burnt yourself?

What sepcification is your PC?

What anti virus do you have?

My computer is Windows XP home edition and I have Norton anti-virus installed, thanks for your help Bill&Ben

Norton might be causing this by slowing the feed of information.

Try turning off the real time scanning it may help, you still didnt say if they are shop brought dvd's or ones you have made,if they are home made it could be somthing else at fault.
