new computer need some help

Hi just brought a brand new pc Packard Bell with AMD FX57 processor
2 Gb ram and 2 250gsm SATA hard drives.

My question is
1. I have added a third hard drive this contains all my other stuff off my old pc, connected power and the sata cable is in the 3rd slot on the motherboard, but its not being seen, do I need to do something in the bios?

2.Added 2 more sticks of Kingston ram making total 4GB (the board will take 4 Gb) but only 3Gb is showing.

Any answers will be welcome

I'm afraid I can't offer much help with the hard drive Mike as I don't have the luxury of a sata board but I've read in other posts on here (try the helproom) that windows doesn't or at leat has trouble recognising more than more than 2Gb of ram, I know it's not much help to you but it's a start.
