My sister bought a new pc approx. 3 weeks ago with xp home and is now getting broadband. She's not sure of a few things?

How can she tell if service pack 2 has been installed?

If sp2 is not installed how can she turn on xp home's firewall to get some protection when first connecting to the internet?

How much will she have to spend on anti-virus software and other internet protection software?

Any advice please.

I would get retail boxed anti-virus and firewall for a new pc. These will have automatic updates when you connect to the internet. You can get norton av and firewall for about £50.
