Any advice (on behalf of a friend) on where to get a student computer from for £300 or less?
Thanks in advance!

What, exactly, constitutes a "student" computer?

well internet access, no gaming, word processing, the usual stuff for a student computer

Dell have a couple of nice intro offers at the moment, both double memory free carriage, click here for a desktop and click here for a laptop, in both cases you'll need to amend the warranty to "90-Day Collect and Return service" to be in the quoted price bracket.
If they need software try click here

If they do go for a laptop, get a security lock, they can walk if you're not careful.

Look at click here
You might find somethig at the price you want to pay, do a search in your price range. Some Have OS and other s'ware
