New CD-RW seems to check startup

I have just replaced my Samsung CD-RW with a Liteon CD-RW, with ATAPI interface, but each time I start to boot up I get the following message after a few beeps "Secondary slave drive - ATAPI incompatible. Press F1 to continue". After pressing F1 everything boots up and seems to work normally, although I haven't tried burning anything yet. I have Win XP Home.

Try setting the jumpers on the back of the drives, if it's a secondary drive then set this to slave.

For simplicity sometimes Cable Select can be used, but can also cause issues as you have.

If all else fails try a different IDE cable.
