New CD -RW

I have a Packard Bell Pulsar 300 PC (Yes, I know it's old). It has a 6-speed DVD drive, with 8 MB SGRAM and TV-out. My question is a very simple one. If I replace the DVD drive with a new CD rewriter, such as the MSI CR52-A2 recommended in PC Advisor as best buy, shall I still be able to watch DVD's on it? Sorry if this seems too simple but I don't know the answer and I don't want to take out the existing DVD drive and lose its facility.

as you have just said that you will buy a CD-RW and not a DVD-ROM drive

If you purchase a COMBO(A cd-rw drive and DVD rom in one) then you would be able to watch DVD's on it

If you've a spare bay why not keep your DVD drive and add a cd-rw. btw click here

you could leave the DVD drive in and add a CD-RW if you have 2 bays.
