New build sound prob

Hello.I have just built a PC from bits that were lying around.I bought a Jeantech R2 PC case.

The case has front audio ports.I connected the lead to the PANEL 1 header on the Shuttle MB(mv43v/mv43vn).

I removed the jumpers which were crossing pins 6 and 5,10 and 9.The jumpers are used when the header is not in use.

When the lead was connected, there was no sound from the speakers, and the front sockets were dead. And according to device manager, the driver was uninstalled.

When the jumpers were placed back on the pins, the speakers worked, and the driver was back.Very odd.

Any ideas please.Cheers
