New Build Problems : P4 CPU and Epox EP-4G4A+

I have had an Epox EP-4G4A+ mainboard for a while and have commenced a new build based on this board with a P4 1.8 CPU.

I am using a Lian Li P60 case and have installed the mainboard and memory ( 256MB PC2100 )

On powering up there is nothing on the monitor. The CPU and case fans run and there are two sorts of beep accompanied by 'C3' on the POST indicator.

There is a long beep, repeating. There is also ( more worrying ) a 'two-tone' beep, in fact two alternating different tones.

I have reseated the memory and tried it in all three memory slots. I have also substituted a different stick of the same memory.

As a result of the above I have removed the Zalman cooler ( with fan )that I had fitted and am about to fit the standard Intel heatsink and fan and see if there is any difference.

Any ideas, please ?
