New Build - all wrong!

  wylstar 09:50 03 Nov 06

Hi, Ive made a 1st time build. Problems: If use just 24pin and not extra 4 pin +12v power connector when power up fans, leds, HDs start with NO beebs and NO display. Put in 4pin +12v connector as suggested by mobo guide and nothing happens at all - no fans, leds etc.

Any ideas? Starting to pull my hair out!! Thanks

My system is: Gigabyte 965p s3, E6400 Core 2 duo, Geforce 7600GT DDR3, 1Gb Corsair 667 RAM, 450W PSU (24pin + 4 pin), 250Gb Maxtor SATA2 HD.

As I understand it, the extra 4 pin powers the cpu, so I suspect something may be wrong there.

Is it properly in it's socket / thermal paste applied / cooler correctly installed / cooler fan plugged into mobo?
