Gets to point of Scan disk when re-installing windows and "Locks Up" pc. gives an error message "Not enough Memory" ??? pc has 256mb of ram.... Any unusal format or commands for a large diskdrive like this ? (I have enabled Large Disk Support)

Check that the Anti-Virus facility in the BIOS is set to DISABLED.

Virus warning is set to disable in bios .

The error is not RAM but HD memory. Somehow it's not formatted as 60GB. Download free Ranish click here run it & type A to make a bootable floppy. Boot from it & format as FAT32. Of course your MB may not work with 60GB.

What is the make of disk? I suspect your mobo will not support a 60Gig Hd, as since you only had 4gig to start with, I suspect that your system is over 3-4yrs old. If this is the case, you will have to upgrade the bios or use a disk wizzard to fool the bios to read the whole disk. Ihave had the same problem in the past. do to manufacturers web site and look for help there.Also..what is make of mobo?Have you slaved the old one and copying over to new?

You may well have a BIOS limit with your motherboard of 32GB, and Ranish will do the job.... but if your intention is to install XP, don't mess about installing W98 first.

Just set your BIOS to boot from CD, insert the XP CD and away you go. XP will offer to format your drive as NTFS anyway. If it is an upgrade version of XP, it will prompt you to insert your W98 CD for verification purposes only.

Check with your mobo manufacturer's web site first, in case you need to update the BIOS to get past the 32GB limit.
