Netzip error at start-up

  satyr77 19:59 23 Oct 04

On booting up from cold (XP Home) am getting error message "Netzip Download Demon. Unexpected error. Program will now unload. TAPI error 0x80000048"

OK-ing this message clears the screen and the system works normally. Donwloads are handled normally by Netzip without any further intervention.

Problem has emerged since setting up NTL broadband (cable modem/ethernet connection)today.

Any information/suggestions/remedies would be most welcome!

Yes, I had seen the reports of Netzip acting as spyware but haven't suffered adversely over the last four years that I've been using the application.

I've solved the problem now, albeit rather crudely, by preventing Netzip from loading on startup. The application still runs without problems but there is no icon in the system tray.

Many thanks!
