Networking with Vista

I have had a network (wired) at home for several years & currently have 4 PC's all happily talking to each other. I bought a new laptop which had Vista (sadly) as its OS. I just can't make the laptop talk to the other PC's or vice versa.

There appears to be several websites which offer solutions to just this problem, as long as I can pay the price but I wondered if anyone can shed any light as to what is changed in Vista. I have tried all the obvious things such as sharing turned on, firewalls etc but just cannot crack the problem.

Any ideas anyone?? Maybe a good subject for a column or 2 in the magazine??

Ok , I have 2 Vista PC's , one Win 98 laptop and an XP desktop all networked , so how far have you got ? What settings have you made to start with ? .
