networking problems

i use a dell inspiron at work which has 2 NIC's - one for a telnet connection thro to head office and one for a broadband connection shared with 2 other pc's thro a broadband router. all was working fine until today, when i found that i cannot get anything to download over the internet unless i disable the card handling the telnet link to head office.
the other pc's work fine, so it is not a problem with the router. i have checked all the connections, configurations, IP addresses etc and all are in order. ISP is BT, OS is XP
any ideas?

It could be the Firewall in XP that's your problem?

thanks recap, i dont use the xp firewall, use zonealarm. i forgot to say that i deactivated zonealarm and still got the problem
