Hello and Happy New Year peeps
I need a hand with some networking. Basically what I want to do is transfer large files from my laptop to my pc and after wasting my time with a usb infrared device have thought that a hub should be the right thing to use. I am talking of files in excess of 500mb at times.
Both the laptop and the pc are on XP Pro.
Questions are
1)What would be the best and most cost effective hub
2)Would it be easy to setup as I know nuttin about IP's etc
3)Would I also be able to use the laptop to surf with as opposed to the pc via the hub

Oh, this laptop also has centrino and if I could use that with what I have in mind above that would be great
Thanks a stack

I am assuming that both your laptop and PC have a network port (RJ45 jack) if that is the case you can either buy

1) A crossover cable and link the two directly peer to peer

2) Buy a 5 port 10/100mb hub (around £35) and a few patch cables

If they both run Windows xp it should be quite easy to configure

Hope this helps

Cheers, Mav
