im about to set up a home network involving two laptops and a half decent pc.

i have done networks before but im really unsure on which is the most cost effective to approach this task? i know that i should have a wireless router(which maybe has an ethernet input for the pc) and that the laptops need wireless cards....although im not sure how to check to see if one is already capable because its fairly new...(the task aint from my house, a friend has asked me to do it because they dont know a great deal about pc's...although im still learning)

so what do you guys in the forum recommend?
also im guessing a v decent anti virus/internet security is needed....you guys reckon norton 2005 is up to the job?
