Network and printer

This is a long one, so bear with me. I have bought my wife a laptop for Christmas and have been trying, unsuccessfully, to network my primter, a Lexmark X3470. I go through the procedure to network the printer, but when as ked for the driver disc,it comes up with an error message, 0x000003e3 I have googled the error and tried the many remedies, but without success. I was wondering if anybody has come across the problem and found a solution?

Is the printer attached to your computer?

Hi Maj. No it's connected to the base unit via a USB cable, but I understand that I can connect wirelessly, even though my printer is not wireless. I have shared my printer in XP and I can see it on the Vista machine, but I am unable to print from it unless I use a cable.
