When networking two PC's via router can the nic in both PC's be the same make/model. PC 1 has netgear FA311, could the same make/model be used in PC 2. I seem to remember a post saying that the second card was not recognised in this configuration and a different make/model had to be used.??

That is what I use, A FA311 nic in both pc's connected to a Netgear RP614 router.

Yep the nic can be the same make model. Each nic has it's own unique mac address which is what the network uses for identification.

Thanks for your responses, I thought you could the same card, there was just a little niggle at the back of my mind, thanks again for the confirmation.
