AT the moment we have a Dymo labelwriter which can be accessed by all machines on the network. The only problem is that it is connected to one of the pc's on the network via its usb socket. To access it this pc has to be switched on before we can print. This is no good to me as I need to use it up to 2 hours before this guy starts work.
The i.t. dept says it cannot be done as it is usb and it has to be connected to a dedicated pc.
Anyone any ideas?
cheers.

Pop over to netgear.co.uk and have a look for an item called a print server, they are made for both parrallel ports and usb ports.

It gives you the opportunity of having a printer with its own address on your network independantly of any computers. The only reason that I can think this will not work is if you have to use some dedicated software to print your labels.

But it has to be worth a look!
