Network Connection Icons

Using WinXp on my Dell D60are0 is fine, but the most annoying thing is the network connection icons in the notification area. As the Dell has LAN, Wireless and Bluetooth there are 3 icons in the system tray. When there is no network connection these icons appear with a red cross but I don't care.

What I want is the icons not to appear in the system tray until a connection is established. there doesn't seem to be any way of achieving this ( I have tried taskbar when inactive, checking the properties etc).

Any ideas please????????????????????
