Network card with wireless laptop?

I have a Netgear 108 router so if my laptop is wireless enabled do I really need to purchase a 108 network card to increase the speed.
Would this be an advantage?

Unless you do a lot of large transfer of files across network I would not bother as the standard 54Meg is still way ahead of any internet connection speed currently availiable.
