Network Cable Unplugged-Wassat??

  symphony 19:39 15 Jan 08

Yes it's another question!
An icon on my screen says "Local Area Connection. A network cable is unplugged". The Icon shows 2 monitor screens crossed out.
I wonder:
What does it mean?
Is it at all detrimental?

network capabilities are installed by default the icon is there because of that, my systray has exactly what yours has, its of no importance if your PC is not networked.

If you want to gwet rid of it..
Double click the icon which takes you into network connections. Right click the connection with the red cross. Select disable.

Many thanks for your help, much appreciated. It's a bit distracting and clutters the screen up so I'll get rid, good thing it's nothing to worry about though.
