Netgear WPN824 Wireless router

I have just bought a Netgear WPN824 Wireless Router to try and improve the range of my wireless network - I was previously using a Linksys WAG54G, which I am still using as the broadband modem. I am disappointed that the connection over a distance of about 20m (round a few corners and through a few walls) is very unreliable. Any suggestions?

Before that check the position of the router. Ideally it needs to be on its own, not amongst books or next to speakers etc. Also if it's close to large metal objects that can reduce the range.

Indoors, 20m is a stretch for any 802.11g signal.

I am trying to adjust the position of the router - and am getting some slight improvement. I suppose I was mistaken in expecting a MIMO router to be that much better than an ordinary one. Thanks for your help and advice.
