Netgear WNDR3700 Router problems

  firerescue999 11:31 19 Oct 10

I have recently received my new Netgear WNDR3700 router and I can’t get it to connect. My ISP is Virgin Media. I have tried connecting via a D-Link modem and have no success. I have also tried using my old Netgear DG834PN in Modem only mode and I still can't get it to work.

Does any one have any ideas please?

A little more info please...

Operating system?
Are you connecting by wire or wireless?
Have you set your ISP username and password into the router?
If wireless, have you set the router's pass key into the wireless software on your PC?

Sorry for late reply, just got back after night shift.
I am using Windows 7 and I have a wired connection. I am using ADSL Virgin. I have set the correct Username and password into the router.
I managed to connect the router with the DG834PN router in modem mode but when it is turned off it disconnects and I have to reconnect it. I am still trying to connect the D-Link 320B but with no success.

I have managed to connect the D-Link 320B to my router. I hadn't enabled bridge mode in the modem, what a numpty.

The only problem I have now is when the router is turned off it wont reconnect to the modem when turned back on. Is there a simple solution for this. Thanks

Leave it turned on?

I am a firefighter and as part of fire safety all electrical items are turned off at night accept the fridge and freezer. Kind regards

I'm not being sarcastic, but what stops the fridge and freezer catching fire?

  firerescue999 15:13 20 Oct 10

Nothing at all will stop them catching fire. But you have to keep your food frozen don't you. It's all about minimising the risk.

Fair enough, but most people I know leave the router on. We now know who to call if the worst happens, though!
