I have a Netgear WG311T 108 Mbps Wireless PCI Adapter on my desk top I have recently changed my internet protection to Norton firewall etc. Now the wirlkess adapter keeeps droppong the connection.

I checked netgear's website and it said it might be a firewall conflict and suggested I turn off the Norton firewall. I would rather not and also do not know if the Netgear firewall is turned on.How can I check if it is and turn it off to see if tis is the problem. I have already turned Windoows firewall off.

To turn off the netgear firewall, you will have to go into the routers setup pages. The entry will be there.

Type either 192.168.2.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your internet address bar to enter the router setup pages.

If you can't find the entry, post back and someone will have a look for you.

ps

would need to know the make and model of the router.

Thanks for the suggestion. Iv'e chickened out of changing the Adapter settings and have turned off Nirton firewall and turned on the windows firewall which has done the trick.

Thanks again.
