Nero 5.5 and XP

Just built new machine running XP, working fine.
Has ArrGo52x52x24 CD writer, LiteOn 16x48 DVD drive. Both drives working and reading CD's
Then I installed Nero 5.5,(which worked with previous machine and Win98SE), neither drive would recognise that a CD was in the tray, kept being asked to insert disk. Uninstalled Nero and went back to earlier restore point. Is the built in CD-writing facility of XP sufficient or do I need a more "fully featured" programme? CDs burned mainly for back-ups.
Thanks for advice.

Nero has to be able to recognise the machine it is talking to. If your writers are recent models and your Nero is not, download the up-to-date version from click here

If you have a legit. copy of Nero already, there is no cost involved.

The CD burning capabilities built into XP are basic only and if you want to do anything more than that, you need dedicated software such as Nero.
