Need Help to Repair XP (Please)

  darkster 15:47 04 Jul 05

I have just (in my infinite wisdom!!NOT!) used Doublekiller to delete duplicate files on my system to free up some HD space. Unfortunately, in my mad rush - not checking the files - it deleted some system files! Now my printer subspooler won't work and windows explorer has become unstable. I have tried to repair XP by booting from the OS cd but when the repair option comes up and it shows 1. C/Windows I press 1 and nothing happens. Being a bit scared of meddling at DOS level I could really use some help please.

If you can, go to start, run and type in SCANNOW /SFC and press enter. Copy the command exactly as it appears here with the space between scannow and /sfc

This will run the system file checker and replace any missing or corrupt files.

P.S. I think you will need to reload your printer's software to get that to work.
