Hi

As a novice I am completely stuck trying to set up wifi home network.

The signal form the router does not reach the entire house so would like to add additional (old) wifi routers as extenders.

I also have powerline extender Netgear WGX102. What I am struggling with is correct allocation of ip addressss):

  1. Do I set each access point as a fixed ip address or is it best free allocation.

  2. What addresses should I allocate. (Main router is presently 192.168.1.254.
    DHCP range 192.168.1.64 - 192.168.1. 253) Subnet 255.255.255.0

  3. Do all APs need to have the same Network Name and/or be on the same channel

  4. What security settings encription etc are required for each device. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be most grateful. What I really need is a breakdown like this: Main Router IP Address

        DHCP Range:

    Mode

    DHCP enabled or Access Point

        Security Setings:

Powerline IP Addrees DHCP Range: Mode DHCP enabled or Access Point Security Setings:

2nd Router IP Addrees DHCP Range: Mode DHCP enabled or Access Point Security Setings:
Thanks in anticipation. Peter
