Need help changing wireless card settings

This morning I restarted my laptop, it's a dell inspiron 1520, and on start up there wifi catcher application told me something about changing channels/settings. anyways, now I'm looking for channel a only and my router broadcasts in b/g/n (by the way my wireless card is supposed to have n functionality but I've never gotten it to work). I find through dell's quickset the option to change the settings. The options for b/g are blacked out. I tried both system restore and updating the drivers, neither helped. Well actually the system restore failed multiple times when I tried doing that.

Change the channel on your router then right click on the wireless symbol in the tool bar and view for networks when you find yours click connect it will ask you encryption key then connect to the new channel automatically

No, that won't work seeing as my router won't broadcast in a and that is what my wireless card is currently set to find. I need to change the settings of my wireless card, not the router.

Look for the cards properties in Device manager , you should be able to change it from there , it should be under " Advanced " if it is a Broadcom card , look for IBSS Mode .

Alright, I found it in there. I don't know how I missed it before. Thanks for the help!
