I used the Intelligent Updater within the last two hours and it screwed up my definitions. It just said " Error " and check Live Update. I did and it came back that my definitions were up to date, but still said " Error ". I ended up uninstalling / reinstalling NAV. 'Nuff said as far as I am concerned - Live Update for me ! : }

I always use Liveupdate which is recommended by Symantec for home users and small businesses click here

Neither is 'better' - they are just different. See click here for details.

Basically, LiveUpdate supplies the previous week's definitions in a single package, usually on a Wednesday. However, if Symantec decide that that is a 'heightened threat' condition, LiveUpdate will supply the latest definitions immediately.

By contrast, The Intelligent Updater method simply makes each day's definitions available for manual download and installation.

I am quite content to rely on LiveUpdate.
