Upon boot up before opening windows my computer
which has the ME operating system shows a window
message of 'NAV AUTO-PROTECT' Unable to initialize the virus scanning engine database files. OK. To bypass this message I have to press
enter and then Windows opens okay! Can you please
advise me if possible how I can rectify this fault. Thank you.

If your pc has just started giving this error message, but was ok before, I'd do a system restore to a time when all was ok. start>programs>accesories>System Tools>System Restore. This should do the trick....TT

try uninstalling your norton anti virus then reinstall the program if system restore does'nt work

had to uninstall completely ( using Rnav tool if remember correctly ) then reinstall.

Have a look here for manual uninstall procedure - but the tool is available from Symantec if required.
