Mystery Microsoft message

In todays offering I have recieved a message purporting to come from
Microsoft
With the headline 'Re:Approved'(Ref3394-65467)
the message reads
"All the information is in the attached file."
There is an ATTACHMENT with the title " screen_temp.pif (51.8 KB)"

As I have no contact with Microsoft - one wonders why they should write to
me ?- If indeed they have.
Needless to say the attachment lays unread in a zip disk just in case it is
another nastie.
Any one had a similar experience?

Do not open it. Microsoft would not send you or anyone else unsolicited e-mail.

After deleting it run an AV scan to be on the safe side.
