I am clearing out junk off my PC and came across these two files can anyone enlighten me as to what they are please.

Where were they?

They were on my 'C' DRIVE top of the list.

I have seen similar files before and they were remnants of windows updates. Of course I can not say with any degree of certainty that this is what these are.

I have looked at one of my machines and have a similarly named file in the root.

I have looked at the contents and it is remnants of the upgrade to IE7 beta 3.

It is not only IE it can be any MS update. Have a look at the files within the folder and that should give a clue

Hi,
I've just this week read an article on theses folders in an old copy of PC Answers.

Quote, "This oddly named folder contains temporary service pack files and can be deleted"

I've deleted mine with no adverse effects.
