My PC always hibernates & will not shut down

When I want to Shutdown my Windows 8 PC, it Hibernates. How do I get it to Shutdown properly?

Thanks Jock, I have tried what you suggest, and in Control Panel the setting is already set for 'Shutdown'. So unfortunately I am no further forward.

Cracked it! I have just been in Control Panel, Power Options, etc., again. And have noticed that the "Fast Start-up" option has been ticked! I have un-ticked this, and my PC now shuts down with no problem.
