I have a "stand alone" computer, when I clicked onto the desktop shortcut for My Network Places the screen showed 6 folders each titled with an IP address which were - 140.113.27.181/150.140.171.107/211.221.245.184/211.91.221.226/218.56.48.137/82.89.207.53 - when I investigated these I found that they all had something to do with Chinese/Japanese/Italian websites. I don't know how they got there - Is it safe to delete them - How do I stop things like this happening again - Any advice/information would be helpful - Thank you - Ian

I have no idea where they have came from but yes you can delete them. if they are in 'My Network places' they are mapped drives i.e. virtual drives, right click and then select delete. after that run antivirus and anti spyware and anti malware software to see if you have been infected with something

Thank you - I did as you advised - It didn't seem to make any difference to the operation of my computer
