if you are running XP you could restore it to how it was and then start again..

When you reboot, does it load into safe mode every time?

Sweet 1

Please note that I do not respond to emails from the message boards unless confidential information is required to solve a specific problem. If nothing else, it prevents others offering assistance or, possibly, learning how to overcome their own problems.

You replied: "yes it loads as normal but very slowly"

That doesn't help. Safe mode always loads slowly because XP only loads the minimum drivers to boot. The screen clearly shows the words "Safe Mode" and a box in the middle of the screen tells you you are in safe mode and you have to click OK to continue. Does XP load normally, but slowly, or does it boot into safe mode each time?
