My Floppy (A:) drive is not working

I dont know if this has gone through to the board .

I have got my computer working (after straitening the bent pin) and powered it up. ive found it has Windows 95 on it. Is there anyway i can get a more recently updated windows-preferbly ME or nearer 2000. also i tried to load a floppy disk but this keeps coming up.(click/or Drag & drop, those links below)

That you have the floppy cable connected the wrong way around. As far as windows is concerned, you really should be looking for XP or Vista now (depends on your system spec) I see from the picture you have a Compaq. What cpu, and memory, graphics card is in it?

It is VERY unlikely that a Windows 95 machine will run Windows 2000, XP, or Vista - so unlikely that it is not worth trying. Windows 98 is a possibility, as this didn't make hugely greater demands on the computer. Windows ME did, although not as much as XP.

May be a faulty Ribbon cable, also Floppy drives will only cost about £1 at a comp fair
