my computer reboots itself

While I'm reading my emails or surfing the internet my screen goes blank and the computer shuts down and reboots itself.
Could it be a virus? I've checked my Bios power management and screensaver. I have not left my computer idle.
It happens also when I'm using my cdwriter to copy and paste files.
Has this happened to anyone else?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds as if it could be a virus. What AV software do you use? and is it up todate.
