Is my computer dead?

  hecate 18:57 04 Jan 06

I recently fitted a new secondary 160gb HD. To enable use of the whole drive I installed an ATA/133Raid Controller. Unfortunately during this operation I dropped a screw onto my motherboard. Now when I switched on NO fan, No lights ,No nothing!
Before starting I grounded myself and removed the mains plug. Any help gratefully received.Hecate.

Be very suprised if dropping a screw on the motherboard killed your PC (I would have killed nearly a hundred by now)

Check mains lead, plug connections, fuse, switch on rear of PSU.

Connections to motherboard (you may have disturbed something)

remove card and see if it boots. May be the extra load on the PSU, has damaged the PSU. Changing (trying another) PSU would be fisrt thing after above checks.

What size power supply unit > too small for additional hardware?

Go back to original system and see if it works

If it does, buy a larger psu
