My AOL Broadband has slowed down again!

  realist 21:59 09 Oct 08

Broadband Expert site speed test just done:

Download Speed 0.29Mbps

AOL average 1.99Mbps

Upload Speed 190kbps

AOL average 279kbps

I'm paying £14.99 for "Up to 8Megs"
LLU exchange

Over a year to go on an 18 month agreement!

BT engineer who put in my pre-filtered socket checked that our line will support at least 5Megs

If I was you phone AOL for your Mac that would be a good start.

What router do you have?

Go here click here for your line stats

Other than AOL LLU what does click here tell you whats available at your exchange???

Post back when you have the info.

Ran another Broadband Expert speed test at midday:

Download Speed: 5.14Mbps
Upload Speed: 325Kbps

Can only assume my line is subject to very severe "throttling back" in the evenings!

You didn't follow my guide from the last link.

"Can only assume my line is subject to very severe "throttling back" in the evenings!"

It would seem so.

The best move I ever did was to request my MAC code from AOL and go to an excellent ISP. I would never sign up to more than a 3 month contract with a new ISP, any longer than this and they have you by the short and curlies.

Why put up with a crap ISP???????

One thing I've found with Carphone Warehouse broadband is to leave the router on 24/7.
Disconnect, even overnight, and it will take about three days to come up to speed again.
On 2 Meg and if router 'off' for a while then connecion drops to below 1 Meg.
Not on LLU though.
