music servers - advice please

anyone suggest a good way to digitise a music collection, cd (~400) and vinyl (~450) recorded as mp3 on pc via usb turntable.would like to link music server(?)to an onkyo micro system and pref be able to display menu on tv to select music.told can do it with 160gb ipod and dock but think need something bigger like buffalo terastation live 1TB.how does it all go together and work? pref dont want to use my pc as a server.am ok with pcs but pretty ignorant on
this any suggestions / useful sites please?

digitising the CD's is easy - use iTunes or WMP - will take 5-10 mins per CD.

allow at least an hour per LP possibly 1.5 hours if you want to split into individual tracks and clean up clicks/plops. use Audacity

as for storage, you might need two devices - look at this page!!
