music playback probs

i have just installed a basic 4.1 sound card to replace my onboard sound.It plays ok to start with then slows down and appears to be using all proccessing power.Any ideas? Please

did you disable the onboard sound

yes, also did you uninstall the drivers for the onboard sound..

also you may want to check to see if there are any conflicts in device manager

right click my computer/properties

any yellow or red exclamation marks >?

if so what are they

i have checked and no conflicts are showing ,but all drivers etc are showing under up as well as the new card, i presume these should not be there?

have checked for conflicts etc non shown but i do appear to still have the built in sound on i will check that first. Thanks to everyone for help
