Music file will not open?

I have a music file on my pc which was playing fine up until a reboot of my computer. It used to have the regular Real one player thumb nail, but that has changed, and it asks me to choose a program to open the file, when i right click it,and choose play. There is no problem playing the file, but how to i get the file back the way it was. When i click properties to see what the file type is,it just says 'file' and nothing else.I think this has something to do with the file extension, but i'm not sure how you go about sorting this out. Please help, thanks.

Is it just the one file that you're having problems with? It may have gotten corrupted. Can you not re-download it or re-copy/re-rip it from your CD? Also, may be worth a try to manually add an extension (by renaming) - preferably back to the original extension (if you remember it). G

can you right click the file and select "open with" and choose a programme, hopefully real player will be listed.

Then check "always use this programme....etc."
