Multiboot problem with XP

  Luthien 15:02 16 Mar 05

Having purchased a new HDD I set about loading my copy of XP Pro. On returning to the room I found that the installation had stopped, incomplete. I then restarted the install from scratch and this time it worked perfectly. However, when I boot up I get a screen that asks which OS I want to use, with a choice of two Windows XP systems. The first one works, the second doesn't. How do I get rid of this annoying message? Any help much appreciated.

I'm afraid the only certain way is to re format drive, and start over.
This time stay with it as it does require configuring.

"Control Panel", "System", "Advanced", "Startup and Recovery", Untick "Display a list of existing operating systems".

PC has two bootup records because you install twice.

I couldn't get the option to untick the Display, but this screen allowed me to edit boot.ini, I was able to delete the reference to the failed install, and everything is ok now. Thanks again.
