M'Soft Word-I type and it 'eats up' text infront?

  buel 22:25 04 Jul 10

Hi, when i type in the middle of a sentence in M'Soft Word it 'eats up'/runs over the text infront, please can anyone tell me what it is? I used to know but i have forgotten what it was!

I do not use Word, but you must have set it to replace text in settings

As woodchip suggests, it sounds as if it is set up to overtype rather than insert text. Try tapping the Insert key on your keyboard whilst Word is running.

Rather than "tapping" just press the Insert key once.

The problem probably arose because you hit INSERT which is often next to the backspace key. INSERT toggles between OVERTYPE and normal modes. This is the quickest method. More fundamentally (but longer) you can go TOOLS OPTIONS EDIT and tick or untick OVERTYPE MODE.

Same works here. Try hitting INSERT.

When you press INSERT key you should see OVR toggle on and off in the information bar at the bottom of the screen.

Brilliant!! It was 'Insert'! Many thanks all!
