hi, ive got msn messenger and a mate has now d/l windows messenger, do i have to d/l windows messenger to b able to chat to him or can i still chat to him via msn.please help bit confused here . thanku

Your friend needs MSN Messenger to chat with you, you give no info regarding Windows version - tell your friend to go here and download click here

That defaulted to XP (my version of Windows) but with any luck your friend will be redirected to the relevant download link if they don't use XP.

Have a look at a program, available in a free version, called 'Trillian'. It enables the use of AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN and Yahoo! instant messenger programs simultaneously, but NOT (as far as I can tell, not used it myself) Windows Messenger - unless anyone here knows differently ?

Windows Messenger is out of date and only required for Remote Assistance. Much smaller multi-protocol chat program here click here
