MSN Messenger Pop Up

I have recently installed XP, now I get a pop up on my screen every time I log onto the internet asking me if I want to upgrade MSN Messenger.

I don't actually want MSN Messenger at all, I will never use it, so how can I stop this damn thing popping up?

In fact, how can I get rid of the messenger icon from my tray (bottom right of screen)?

ignore it for a few times more and it will go away.(it will hide)If you disable it in "services" you could be missing out on other popups/messages from MS which you may require.

Thanks Jim, I have remove the tick by it in msconfig too, maybe that will solve it.

U need to open messenger go to tools option and untick start when windows starts and allow this app to run in the background,or it may come back even tho u unticked it in msconfig.

Regards.
